At Skidmore, we believe that if a student belongs here, we’ll help them get here — and thrive. That’s why we meet 100% of demonstrated financial need for every accepted student. Your support helps ensure that talent, not income, determines opportunity — and that a ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿education remains within reach for those ready to make the most of it.

No gaps, just aid

Some colleges admit students without considering financial need, but many fall short when it comes to actual aid. ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿takes a different approach.

As a need-aware institution, we manage our financial aid responsibly during the admissions process and then fully commit. We meet 100% of demonstrated need for every admitted student and continue that commitment every year. That’s how we support not just access but persistence, graduation, and long-term success.

A growing need

We're proud that more than half of ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿students receive some form of aid from the College, but more than three-quarters of ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿applicants request it. That means tough choices have to be made during the admissions process because we cannot fund all deserving applicants on our own.

During the 2022-2023 school year:

  • 100% of demonstrated need met for all current and accepted students
  • $68 million annual financial aid budget (up from $15.1 million in 2003)
  • $56,000 average first-year aid package
  • $25,000 average post-college debt (national average is $37,000)

Endowed scholarships

Endowed scholarships last forever and will benefit students for as long as Skidmore stands. As we seek to admit the most talented and deserving students, we must start by making ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿a viable choice for them.
